Conservative ground zero -Alberta

As I said some time ago, the shadow and smell of Stephen Harper’s brand of ‘conservatism’, which leads the conservative movement in Canada and particularly here in Alberta, is a clandestine war on professional associations and unions of any kind. That war is hottest here in Alberta where his brand of ultra conservatism still burns bright and the hope is that, if successful, will spread across the country. Anti public anything is the mantra here and the ultimate goal is the complete privatization and individualization of everything. Complete divide and conquer by the economic elites in this country with the belief that they know what’s best for us all.

After having totally disrupted the doctor’s association and nurse’s Union in our socialized health care system during the Covid crisis, with the end goal to privatize it, here is the next attack on the teacher’s association after successfully having taken control of their pension money over the past year. It doesn’t look good in this province for highly educated employees of public services. By the look of things as the UCP twist the facts to suit their narrative that caters nicely to Albertan conservative voters, it won’t take long for the government to destroy public education and universal health care to replace them with private.

Bit by bit they are destroying the teaching profession, their only real roadblock to justifying, indoctrinating and propagandizing all youth to a singular neo-liberal point of view. This destruction of cooperative society which requires democratic government in favour of extreme libertarian individualism that abhors democratic government will lead to chaos and small ‘a’ anarchy for which the only solution in the minds of ultra-conservatives will be authoritarian strong arm action by elites and the reconstruction of absolutism. So, while yelling for more ‘freedom’, once successful the right will invoke less.
